As we know, TPD came into effect in 2017, May. This means that the sale of all nicotine e liquid is regulated to 10ml, any bottle of e-liquid that is larger than 10ml with nicotine is banned. This is where shortfills come into play…. 

Shortfill: Flavoured e-liquid base usually in a high VG ratio without nicotine. This e-liquid is sold in a larger bottle with space to accommodate an unflavoured nicotine booster to get to your desired nicotine strength. Make sure to mix it with a high VG nicotine booster to not lose flavour or VG/PG ratio. 

In order to get to the desired nicotine strength, you will simply need to calculate the following; nicotine strength added (18mg) divided by end result (60ml) = 0.3% (3mg nicotine).

Step 1: Remove the nozzle from your bottle.

Step 2: Empty the nicotine booster into your shortfill bottle. 

Step 3: Seal the nozzle and cap then shake your bottle for a couple of minutes until the nicotine is mixed in. 

The Benefits:

Those that sub-ohm will really appreciate shortfills as one 50ml bottle is cheaper than six 10ml bottles. In addition to this, due to the liquids not needing to be TPD compliant and go through all the necessary testing, there are more flavours and new flavours are made more frequently. Also, instead of carrying around multiple bottles, with shortfills, you will only need one.

We try and get liquids that are also available in a TPD compliant form (10ml with nicotine), so we that know all tests have been carried out and they are safe for our customers. 

People can still use the shortfill without adding a nicotine booster, however, most of these liquids have extra flavour concentrate added to accommodate for when the booster is added. Please be careful when handling the nicotine booster, make sure to wash your hands after filling your shortfill bottle with the nicotine.
